Story time: Earlier this year, in springtime, I noticed my feet (especially my heels) were getting tired after a workday. Decided to buy a new pair or insoles for my shoes, with some arch support. Feet felt less tired afterwards.

Fast forward to a month ago, and noticed an ache on my right foot, just behind toes. It went away in two days, but immediately after the same ache appeared on my left foot. And it got worse. And worse. To the point I wasn’t able to put any weight on it for two weeks, basically just lay on bed. The pain moved around the foot, from outer sole to inner sole and finally to my ankle. No walking what so ever.

After that, it has slowly got better for another two weeks, so I could do at least some light work for one or two hours per day. And on this fifth week, it’s still not fully healed.

Last Thursday I went to see a physical therapist / sports masseuse (I have regular appointments for my neck / shoulders, that are constantly tight). He massaged, mobilized, twisted, pulled, turned, pushed, manipulated, and bent my ankle every single which way possible, until there was a faint ‘plop’, and he said, “Would you look at that, that bone just plopped back into its place.” -> “Excuse me, it did WHAT?”

Right after that I was able to walk almost normally again.

Turns out, the arch support on the insoles I bought had twisted my foot and bunched all the bones and tendons to one side, causing basically a tennis elbow but on my foot.

Moral of the story: Gentlemen (and the very few ladies): Check your shoes and insoles, especially if you work on your feet. On hard concerte floors. With hard soled safety boots on.

So, yeah. I’m an extra month late on everything. Yay.
